I woke up this morning not feeling to well and looked out of the window. I noticed one of my teddybear sunflower pots had been knockered over. Now this is one of the pots I know the wind wouldn’t knock over so I had a futher look. I then noticed that there were sunflower petals all over the path and knew it was squirrels.

I then went into the window and looked at my larger sunflowers and noticed they had fallen over too. I thought it was the wind but noticed that one sunflower that had 4 flowers on it yesterday had been stripped bare. So more squirrel damage.
I therefore went into the garden and cut all the stalks of all the tall sunflowers down.
The squirrels in a weird way are doing me a favour as once they eat all the sunflowers I’m going to replace them with bulbs under chicken wire which they don’t like. The two planters I’ve placed with the bulbs under chicken wire they have given up digging. In addition I’ve prepared the ground by turning over soil and putting bark chips on it. The squirrels have dug and dug but have not managed to find anything.
On another note some of my lawn seeds seem to be sprouting.
