I’ve managed to kill my lawn.
I should start at the beginning. When I moved in I brought a lawn mower and cut my grass for the first time and I noticed it was brown underneath i.e. lots of dead grass.
So I’ve been cutting it very high because I don’t like brown grass and this meant the top was green.
I brought some lawn green and weed killer, and spread it on the lawn and it scorched the grass. So I got a grass rake and removed all the thatch because it is autumn. Loads of thatch came up. I then set my lawn mower lower and mowed the grass. Unfortunately this now means I’ve bald patches.
This means I have to aerate the lawn and the reseed it. But first I’m going to water it.
I also have dug out the bindweed and removed the plants in a bed. I’m next going to cover it with landscaping fabric and bark chips.
During my digging I discovered massive bindweed roots which I couldn’t dig all out because they are either under concrete or in my next door neighbour’s garden.
