When I moved into my garden the daffodils where in full bloom. Since then they have died and the bulbs are still in their pots. Unfortunately the squirrels have taken to digging up the bulbs and throwing them around the garden. They haven’t taken any bits out of them which I was originally surpised by but then I found out daffodil bulbs are poisonous.
So after purchasing lots of spring bulbs I decided to find the best way of protecting them from the pests. This involves using chicken wire. Originally I thought chicken wire was hard to find but thanks to all the people who have decided to keep chickens in their gardens lots of DIY stores now sell it.
So what you have to do in short is:
1. plant the bulbs
2. cover the soil with chicken wire (which can be found in most DIY stores)
3. put more soil on top of the chicken wire, followed by any top coat you like.
I have did this a day ago and came back to discover that something had been digging but had given up:

In the background you can see my neighbours garden which is just a bed of weeds, mostly bindweed and ground elder.
